Browsing For A Terrific Movie? Check Out These Wonderful Movie Commentaries

Never before has it been so fantastic to be a film fan. Back in the day the only way that you could even see a movie was to visit the movie theater. Later on, videos came out and you could get a video at the store but the movie that you wanted may have been out-of-stock and you still had to wait. You also needed to make sure that you avoided any late fees by making sure that you got the film back to the store on time. Now you can get the movies by mail, but it is still a waiting game.

Far and Away - A scrappy Irish tenant farmer hooks up, in doubtful style, with the equally feisty daughter of a affluent landowner, and together they travel to America to hunt for their final destiny in the'93 Oklahoma land rush. Exceptional platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both good-looking and involving; the problem is a extreme absence of good dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Cast includes Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, Cohn Meaney, and Rance Howard. (140 minutes,'92)

Rhapsody in Blue - Hollywood biography of George Gershwin is largely fiction, although comes off better than most other composer biographies, seizing Gershwin's excitement for his work, and some of his central conflicts. Cast includes Robert Aida, Joan Leslie, Alexis Smith, Oscar Levant, Charles Coburn, Hazel Scott, and Al Jolson. (139 minutes,'45)

Mysterious Lady - An Austrian armed forces officer (Nagel) falls in love with Garbo, naive that she's a Russian agent. Another contrived plot made serviceable by Garbo herself. Cast includes Greta Garbo, Conrad Nagel, Gustav von Seyffertitz, Albert Pollet, and Edward Connelly. (96 minutes,'28)

The In Laws - Everybody can relate to this difficult situation. The in laws are coming and you just have to survive. Do not try this at home! Unrated version runs 93. Cast includes Peter Falk, Alan Arkin, Richard Libertini, and Nancy Dussault. (103 minutes,'64)

Cuba Crossing - Our lead man Stuart Whitman becomes entangled in a plan to take out Fidel Castro. Filmed in Key West, Florida, and at minimum the landscape is beautiful. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Robert Vaughn, Caren Kaye, Raymond St. Jacques, Woody Strode, Sybil Danning, Albert Salmi, and Michael Gazzo. (90 minutes,'80)

Inferno - American returns to N.Y. from school in Rome to research the hideous death of his sibling, and finds "sinister moms" wreaking paranormal anarchy on both sides of Atlantic. Surreal, mesmerizing shocker by Italian terror genius Argento does not make much sense, but it has a lot of style. Cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Marvel, Sacha Pitoeff, Daria Nicolodi, Eleonora Giorgi, Veronica Lazar, and Alida Valli. (107 minutes,'84)
